The Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced manager with an RN license to run our Admissions Department. The job responsibilities include reviewing eligibility for hospice admissions with the hospice medical director, ongoing hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of admissions nurses and staff, communication and coordination of admission activities, and adherence to regulatory guidelines to ensure high quality patient/family care. Other duties include refining admit and referral processes, training, and education on admits, and acting as a liaison to referral sources. The Patient Services Manager reports to this position as well. The Admissions Department Manager attends Clinical Process, Leadership Team meetings and participates in the administrator on call rotation.
This is an in-office, non-remote position.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
· Leads, organizes, and leads admissions department staff, including admissions nurses.
· Reviews patient referral documentation to assist hospice medical director or hospice physicians in determining hospice eligibility.

· Creates, writes, and refines the admissions process, policy, and procedures, and educates staff on admissions processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for direct supervision of admission department staff and the Patient Services Manager.
Specific Job Skills
· Working knowledge of and the ability to apply the basic principles and techniques of community health in the WVH program care settings.
· Must possess good clinical skills and be able to utilize problem-solving techniques.
· Knowledge of pain and symptom management.
· Strong interpersonal skills with expertise in customer service principles.
· Knowledge of hospice concept and practice.
· Knowledge of community resources.
· Ability to function in high stress situations and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, professional manner and outlook.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to assist callers in identifying their needs. Strong data entry skills.
· Ability to understand and follow somewhat complex verbal and written instructions in English.
· Communicates effectively in English both orally and in writing.
· Ability to continuously sit and work in front of a computer terminal and on the telephone. Ability to make frequent repetitive motions involving hands/wrists involved in writing, keyboarding, and using the computer mouse.
Education/Experience
· High school diploma: associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
· Must be an RN in the State of Oregon
· RN Hospice or oncology experience preferred.
· Direct experience in admitting patients and understanding of the intake/referral process
· Knowledge of community resources is necessary
· 2+ years of supervisory/management experience in a clinical setting
Certification/Licensure/Requirements
· Must possess a current license as an RN in the State of Oregon.
· Certification in hospice nursing or oncology nursing preferred.
· Must have valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance.
