History and Background of Willamette Valley Hospice

Willamette Valley Hospice, a nonprofit organization founded in 1978 and located in Salem, Oregon, fulfills a rich legacy by providing comprehensive hospice care services, pain management, grief counseling, and support for those patients and families facing serious or life-limiting illness. Willamette Valley Hospice has traditionally supported adults, children and infants living with a serious or life-limiting illness throughout Marion and Polk counties.

Willamette Valley Hospice began by a group of dedicated volunteers compelled to meet the needs of terminally ill patients and their families in the Willamette Valley.  Since that time, Willamette Valley Hospice has grown from caring for nine patients to over 1,100 patients each year.  The number of patients and families who receive care from Willamette Valley Hospice staff and volunteers continues to grow.

A Community Commitment to All

Community is important to us. We live and work in the communities we serve and are dedicated to providing services and community support to all.

We believe hospice care should be available to everyone.  In keeping with our commitment to community, we provide services to all, regardless of ability to pay.

We offer public education about the hospice philosophy of care & services for our Spanish speaking community.
